aBOUT humc pRESCHOOL
At Hampstead United Methodist Church (HUMC) Preschool, we provide a loving, nurturing environment for young children and an enticing place for creative learning experiences through play, music, stories, and art in a Christian surrounding.
Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM We will have a "Once Upon a Friday" program next year that will be optional. We will base the teachings around a book each week. More details to come!
Actual start and end dates will be made known as soon as the Pender County School calendar has been announced. Holidays and other days off from preschool closely follow the Pender County school calendar.
rEQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND
- All children must be current on immunizations (no exemptions). A medical form completed by a physician is required annually.
- All children entering the Three Year and Pre-K classes must be potty trained.
CLASS PLACEMENT
Children are placed in classes based on their age on August 31st of the current school year. This is consistent with the NC Public School entry age statute.
Class placement may be changed based on child development or potty training needs.
CLASS OPTIONS
Classes offered include:
- Two Year Class: We have a max of 6 children per class with one experienced teacher. Children must be two years old on or before August 31, 2026
- Three Year Class: We have a max of 8 children per class with one experienced teacher. Children must be three years old on or before August 31, 2026
- Pre-K Class (ages 4 & 5): We have a max of 16 children in this class with two experienced teachers. Children must be four years old on or before August 31, 2026
FEES
Annual non-refundable registration/supply/snack fee: $175.00. Snack is provided daily.
Monthly tuition: $300.00
Family Discount: $20.00 monthly discount for families with more than one child enrolled.
REGISTRATION
To register your child, complete the application and return it with the registration fee, along with a current copy of the child's immunization record. The medical form must be received annually before the child may attend. The registration fee can be paid with cash, check or through zelle (humcpreschool@hampsteadumc.org). We also accept tuition fees these ways as well.
Spaces are not reserved until we receive the completed application and registration fee. Spaces are limited and are offered on a first come first served basis. Once a class becomes full, a waiting list is created.
We reserve the right to change or cancel class offerings if there are not enough children to fill the class. If a class is cancelled, the registration fee will be refunded.

- Chapel: We gather for chapel every Tuesday. Each month centers around a special theme, helping children learn chapel etiquette while deepening their understanding of Jesus Christ. Our chapel theme this year (2025-2026) is "Jesus is My Superhero!" and the children are learning that Jesus loves everyone!
- Lunch Bunch: We offer a Lunch Bunch program on Wednesday's from 12:00-1:00pm. The cost is $15 per session or $40 for the month. Lunch will need to be provided and children need to be potty trained to attend this. This is a great option if you have an appointment or need an extra hour of help!
- HomeRoom App: We utilize the HomeRoom App for communication and posting photos from your child's teacher throughout the week.
